Vision Statement
River of Life Vision Statement
As pastors, we are committed to feed and equip the saints at River of Life Foursquare Church, because we believe that every person is a member of the body and that all the members, functioning in their specific calling allow the body to be able to advance the kingdom of God (I Corinthians 12:12 – 31). In the context of Biblical community, in every area of ministry in our church, we seek to raise people up to function in their gifts and callings. As a sending ground, we seek to release them to their God-given purposes, that they may be salt and light, the hands and feet of Christ.
In the same way that we see each individual with a specific calling and gifting, we see the corporate body of Christ at River of Life with a specific calling. As pastors, we seek to equip the corporate body to take its place in the larger body of believers in the church of Berea. We move in that direction based on two basic understandings of how our church is connected to the body of Christ in Berea and to our head, the Lord Jesus Christ:
1. We believe each church in a city has a specific and unique prophetic assignment to advance the Kingdom of God in that community. (I Corinthians 12:12)
2. Since the birth of River of Life, the prophetic Word of the Lord has revealed our purpose within our community. (I Corinthians 12:6, 7; Acts 11:27 – 30)
Based on this understanding, in order to function in the Lord’s ultimate intention, we declare our vision for the body of River of Life Foursquare Church.
1. To be a church assigned to reach out to the students, staff, and faculty of Berea College.
- To evangelize the lost (Luke 19:10)
- To preach the Foursquare Gospel (2 Corinthians 4:1 – 4)
- To make disciples (Matthew 28:18 – 20)
- To feed, and equip leaders on campus (2 Timothy 2:2)
- To tear down demonic strongholds (Ephesians 6:12)
- To see the college return to its Christian foundation. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
2. To be a church assigned to reach out to the poor and needy of Berea.
- To meet physical needs, which opens the door to meet spiritual needs. (Matthew 25:34 – 40)
- To teach financial responsibility (Proverbs 10:4)
- To see people set free from poverty (Luke 4:18)
- To see a city bound by spiritual bondage restored. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
